Overview

Relic Gaming approached us to engineer a broadcast ecosystem for their "Champions Arena" Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition tournament. They required a Tier-1 esports viewing experience—comparable to global majors—that could run flawlessly without a massive backstage production crew.

We didn't just design static overlays; we delivered a fully automated, high-fidelity broadcast package integrated directly into OBS. By fusing dynamic data, automation, and custom AI graphics and animation, we built a self-sustaining stream architecture.

Our Process

1. Dynamic Overlay Architecture We designed a comprehensive suite of live assets—from dynamic matchmaking screens (VS) to real-time bracket updates and map pool logic—ensuring absolute readability while maintaining a cinematic, medieval aesthetic.

2. Generative AI Integration To elevate the production value beyond standard limits, we deployed advanced AI models to generate hyper-specific thematic backgrounds and custom player banners, establishing a unique visual identity for the tournament.

3. Event-Driven Automation The true power of this project lies in the backend. We integrated OBS via WebSockets, utilizing the Advanced Scene Switcher framework to engineer a logic system for hands-free broadcasting. This allowed for automated delay synchronization, catchy stinger transitions, and condition-based scene routing without human intervention.

4. Live Deployment The final phase involved stress-testing the ecosystem under live Twitch broadcast conditions, ensuring zero frame drops, ultra-low latency, and perfect synchronization between real-time gameplay and broadcast graphics.
